This website has been created by NHS Nottinghamshire County Community Pharmacy Team.

It has been designed as the central point for Patients and Carers, Community Pharmacy Staff, Healthcare Professionals and PCT staff to access community pharmacy information.  The information is contained in three sections:

Patient and Carers

Most people know that if you need to have a prescription dispensed then you go to your community pharmacy, (sometimes known as the chemist) its all about what happens in your community pharmacy on the high street. As well as dispensing prescriptions your community pharmacy can also provide a range of services.  This section of the website provides information on the services you can expect to find provided by community pharmacies in Nottinghamshire along with current news items and lots more.

Community Pharmacy Staff

Created for community pharmacy staff to access to see contractual information, training opportunities, current issue items and interim guidance (updates of guidance can be found in the PCT Pharmacy Guide).

Healthcare Professionals and PCT

Contains useful information for a wide range of healthcare professionals and staff within the Primary care Trust.

BRIEFING FROM NHS NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY’S COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Walk-in Centres closed on 30th September 2011

The two Walk-in Centres in Nottinghamshire closedon Friday 30 September 2011.  This decision was finalised at a meeting on the 20th September, with Nottinghamshire County Council’s Social Care and Health Standing Committee which oversees any substantial changes to health services.

NHS Nottinghamshire County wants patients to access primary care services and receive the ‘right care, in the right place, first time’.  Primary care is the service provided by GPs, pharmacists, dentists and opticians in the community.

Across Nottinghamshire, there are lots of primary care services available, including:
• Local pharmacies,
• Family Doctors,
• Out-of-Hours service – this is accessed by dialling the usual GP surgery telephone number during evenings and weekends,
• By calling NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or online at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk,
• Going to the Walk-in Centres in Nottingham City, Clifton, or Ilkeston,
• Visiting the Minor Injuries Unit and Urgent Care Centre at Newark Hospital.

If this is not possible, patients who need urgent healthcare should visit their nearest Emergency Department (ED).

If patients need advice with accessing local NHS services, they can call the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 028 3693.
